The guest ranch has been in the Espinosa family for three generations. For 35 years the Espinosa family worked in the dairy business and then 10 years ago they started summer riding camps for children ages 9-15. Then they decided to offer guest ranch vacations all year round. They are situated one hour south of the historic colonial city of Quito, the capital of Ecuador.
Hacienda La Alegría is located at the base of the Andes and situated near 11 volcanoes. It is possible on one of the horseback rides to see one of the highest ACTIVE volcanos in the world that measures 14000 feet high and 200 miles around the base. They also offer multi-day trips rides from 1 to 14 days, covering different ecosystems such as the Andean Valley, the high grasslands (paramo), and the cloud forest.
Guest will get the opportunity to experience the local cowboy culture (chagras) at Hacienda La Alegría. All meals are tailored for hungry travellers, riders and hikers, and combine delicious Ecuadorian and international cuisine. Be sure to bring your camera as the scenery is breathtaking.
